Julie by Catherine Marshall: a Classic Book review and giveaway: Julie #sponsored #giveaway

Welcome to this blog stop. Don't forget to visit the other stops to see what everyone has to say about this wonderful read. Get ready for the beach with a good book like this one.

This is a great classic book you will just love to read or re-read. I love to dive into history with books like this one that involve other eras like the Great Depression. It is so fascinating to read and imagine the era. In this wonderful classic, Julie Wallace has always wanted to write. With limited options to  escape the Great Depression, Julie’s father tries something different. He buys a small town newspaper called the Alderton Sentinel. He moves his entire family to Alderton, Pennsylvania. Of course the town is subject to flooding and often. As flash floods ominously increase, Julie’s crack investigative reporting uncovers long hidden secrets that could endanger the entire community.

Things get wild when the powerful owners of the steel mills stand off against Julie, the newspaper, and her family. The family continues to investigate the horrid conditions of the immigrant laborers nevertheless. Tensions really rise when the Alderton Sentinel and Julie take on a more aggressive role to reform these awful conditions. The book takes a turn when a devastating tragedy follows a truly shocking revelation.  Julie’s courage and strength are tested again and again. You will want to read late into the night to find out Will truth and justice win, or will Julie lose everything she holds dear?

Catherine Marshall (1914-1983), “The New York Times” best-selling author of 30 books, is best known for her novel “Christy.” Based on the life of her mother, “Christy” captured the hearts of millions and became a popular CBS television series. Around the kitchen table at Evergreen Farm, as her mother reminisced, Catherine probed for details and insights into the rugged lives of these Appalachian highlanders. Catherine shared the story of her husband, Dr. Peter Marshall, Chaplain of the United States Senate, in “A Man Called Peter.” A decade after Dr. Marshall’s untimely death, Catherine married Leonard LeSourd, Executive Editor of “Guideposts,” forging a dynamic writer-editor partnership. Generation Good Seventh Generation Free & Clear Laundry Detergent Packs Sample @seventhgen #sponsored

Disclosure: I received samples of Seventh Generation Free + Clear Laundry Detergent for free.

I recently received a packet in the mail with two Seventh Generation Free+ Clear laundry detergent Pack samples to try and share with a friend. I was excited to try Seventh Generation Free + Clear laundry detergent and the samples I received made it easy. One of the best things about this laundry detergent is that it is a safer choice. It has no dyes, optical brighteners or fragrances to cause skin problems. Just clean and fresh clothes even in cold water! I tried the laundry detergent pack in my household for one load. I received the solid packs, but it also comes in a liquid formula. It worked well for my colored clothes. They smelled just clean without fragrance or chemicals. My clothes came out clean and fresh and there was no residue or scent. My hubby was so happy he asked me to add it onto our weekly shopping list. He is a scent-free just of a guy. These are great if you prefer unscented detergent or have allergies.

Do you or someone in your family prefer clean clothes without any kind of scent? Sometimes scent can be quite irritating to skin. In the winter, my family is so much more susceptible to itchy, dry skin and even eczema. It can be very annoying and bothersome. Detergents like this excellent option from Seventh Generation really help us out for a few reasons. This plant-based formula is tough on stains without fragrances, dyes or artificial brighteners.  It gets our dirtiest dirties all fresh and clean from the hubby's Ultimate Frisbee sweats to my icky sweaty gym clothes. Think about it. Now you can get a clean you can trust that is made for sensitive skin.

The best part about this sampling is that I was able to share my second packet with a friend. Ellen was excited to try this since she always does wash on the weekend. Her son has super sensitive skin and she told me that he liked the way shirts did not smell and there was no issue with itchy skin. All set, next week we will pick up a bottle. Try it and let me know what you think.
